All players should attend tryouts in order to secure the best possible evaluation for the upcoming seasonal year.If a player is unable to attend tryouts, you must contact Brian Stoddart or Jenn Walters and complete the online registration form prior to tryouts. There are no guaranteed spots and the only way to secure the best possible evaluation is to attend the AYSA tryouts.Players missing tryouts are not guaranteed a roster spot, and we must know they will not be at tryouts in order to be considered for the roster. Please be aware of this policy.
All players, if possible, should download the registration form online and email or mail back to Jenn Walters in order to pre-register for the tryouts. This process will make tryout day much easier for you to check in and obtain a numbered bib.
During Tryouts/Team Formation:
Please get your child to tryouts on time and ready to play (ball, cleats, shinguards, and water). If you did not pre-register or sign the parent consent form, you must complete the paperwork before your child can participate. Please make sure you have given your correct email address and phone number where you can be reached.
Upon conclusion of tryouts for your age group, you will be notified within 72 hours as to your status. If you are offered a spot, you will have 36 hours from the time of notification by AYSA to accept that spot.(You have 36 hours from the time AYSA sends you an email OR calls your phone/leaves a message). If we do not receive confirmation from you within 36 hours that you are accepting your spot, your spot is subject to release and could be offered to another player. If you are going out of town or will be unable to be reached within the 72-hour time period post tryout, we need to have an answer from you before you leave as to whether you would accept a spot if offered. It is your responsibility to tell us ahead of time if you will not be able to be reached and if you would accept a spot offered to you.If you do not do so, your spot is subject to release and could be offered to another player. The majority of player notification for Academy spots will be by email.
Select teams and Academy player pools are chosen by the AYSA coaching staff and directors.AYSA will adhere to the GYSA guidelines for roster size.Once a team or pool is formed from tryout decisions and player acceptance, all players must come to the signing day to complete registration, paperwork, and uniform sizing if needed.Items to be completed include medical waiver, proof of birth date (copy of official birth certificate), contact information, and commitment form.If you are unable to make the signing day, permission to miss must be granted by Jenn Walters or Brian Stoddart.

Applications must be received prior to the signing day for your particular program in order to be reviewed by the committee.
3. Academy/Select Commitment Level: The Academy and Select Programs are for a full two-season commitment, Fall 2009-Spring 2010.These programs are for serious soccer players looking to develop their skills in an environment with professional coaches and staff.Players are asked to make practice sessions and games during BOTH seasons (U15-U19 N/A for Spring GYSA season).Typically, teams practice 2 days a week during the season and play 1 game per weekend (Fall practices Aug-Nov; Spring practices Feb-May); however, PLEASE NOTE our higher level teams may be REQUIRED to add a third practice, while others will have an optional third practice added.Select soccer IS different from recreational soccer. It is a two-season commitment (U10-U14) and practice attendance is required or playing time is subject to limitation based on the discretion of the coaching staff. The competition both inner-club and intra-club is much greater at the Academy and Select level and training sessions help build a player’s skill level to meet the demands of that competition. Professional staff members coach the teams to deepen a player’s skill and understanding of the game. Please take this commitment seriously and know that you are committing to a FULL seasonal year of soccer on the team, BOTH Fall and Spring seasons.
4. Team Formation: AYSA selects players during tryouts to a pool format in the Academy and to certain blue or white teams for Select.Team formation is based on the number of players trying out and coaching staff. The Academy Program determines specific teams during the initial season training sessions and this program allows for the opportunity for players to move from team to team during the playing season, if necessary. However, AYSA strives to maintain team continuity from Fall to Spring. All players must tryout for AYSA Academy and Select Teams each summer as no spots are guaranteed.
